Are you Christmas-retarted?
by Thegoodgirl inhi guys, haven't posted in a while, but i don't see this topic covered: is anyone else out there as christmas retarted as me?
i feel so awkward stumbling over the words "merry christmas" to friends.
also, who do you buy for?

I am celebrating my first Christmas in 11 years and I am focusing on the joy of it rather than gifts. I am trying to think more about Jesus birth and less about spending money. Fact is I have none. This is the poorest we have ever been but also it seems the happiest. My kids and hubby understand that this year it will be really simple. Other people I tried to give stuff that I make like my homemade hot cocoa mix. It is not the expense of a gift but the thought behind it.
As for who should exchange gifts or who should we buy for I think that is a personal decision. It also should be prearranged so nobody feels stupid or left out. -

my mother
by Ellie ini would like to write a thread to tell you all about my mother, however it would be very long and complicated and deeply personal, exploring feelings that i don't even know if i have.
but basically, she told me the other day that shes very ill, she needs an operation but the doc has said she wouldn't survive it, this has made me feel so guilty and terribly sad.. what i'd like to ask you guys though is, do you think a child can be so naughty that as an adult its mother should continue to judge, and chastise in public?.
i understand that you don't know the full story, even i don't know the full story but i'd appreciate any comments you have to offer.

No I don't believe that a child can be so naughty that a mother has the right to chastise them or embarass them in public. When my own mother tried to act like that with me I told her what she was doing was wrong and that I didn't like it, then I stopped talking to her until she apologized and then I laid some ground rules. She too was very sick but that didn't excuse her behavior. I loved her very much, as you probably love your mom, but I couldn't tolerate her continued abuse of me.
I hope this helps you.

Well this is my family's 1st Thanksgiving dinner in 11 years and it was great. It felt so nice to sit around the table and eat dinner. Pop Pop, Joel's grandfather, said the prayer. It was a very touching experience. There was only 1 fly in the ointment and that was Pop's step daughter's boyfriend who couldn't stop talking about the Mexicans who damage his trucks when he parks in front of their house. I couldn't stop myself and had to point out that I saw an episode on Sesame Street where everyone wanted to be the same and found it boring. He then starts saying about how being different is good. I wonder if he realized how lame his second comment sounded after the first.

What is the most unique name you've encountered?
by Why Georgia inthis question comes to mind right now because i seem to be surrounded by pregnant women.
3 of the mom's in my sons' kindergarten class of 12 - are pregnant and in the other classes i notice a similar trend.
it's not a large school - maybe 60 kids max between the preschool and kindergarten.

When I was in school I knew a kid with the name marijuana spelled backwards. Everyone just called him Basil.

Hello, I'm Aaron, and this is my story...
by MetricRX indear reader,
my name is aaron, and i have a brief story to tell regarding my youth as a jehovah's witnesses.
my story is all too familiar for many who had the misfortune to find themselves unwilling participants in the religious activities of this group, but i would like to share my experience.

Ten Rules for Dating My Daughter
by Big Dog ini thought this was funny, pretty much sums up my attitude.. ten rules for dating my daughter!.
rule one: if you pull into my driveway and honk you'd better be delivering a package, because you're sure not picking anything up.
rule two: you do not touch my daughter in front of me.

I love your rules and will definitely be using them when my own daughter starts dating. Fact is that the boy will have to survive an interrogation by me, my husband Joel, and our son. LOL.
